The KEEP letter reveals ONE letter that is shared by BOTH the previous word (step) and the guessing word (step). In this example the letter ‘c’ is shared by the previous word (thick) and the guessing word which is (cheese).

The ADD letter reveals ONE letter that needs to be added to the guessing word and DOES NOT exist in the previous word. In this example the letter ‘s’ does not exist in the previous word (thick) but needs to be added to the guessing word (cheese).
